Jason A. Braxton

Jason joined BPE Law Group, PC, as a Senior Litigation Associate in March 2019. Before joining BPE, he served as an Attorney Advisor for the U.S. Small Business Administration – Office of Disaster Assistance where he specialized in reviewing and approving secured commercial and residential transactions necessary to provide aid to victims of natural disasters. Before his time with the federal government, Jason served as Deputy Attorney General for the California Department of Justice and successfully represented the State, its agents, and many of its hard-working peace officers in federal and state civil rights actions. Prior to his time with the Department, Jason founded and operated a two-attorney general practice law firm where he focused his individual practice primarily on consumer bankruptcy, residential and commercial landlord-tenant dispute resolution, consumer protection, and commercial transactions and advisement.

Representative Matters:

  • Obtained a defense verdict after a one-week federal jury trial on behalf of three peace officers;
  • Drafted and argued nearly two dozen successful motions for summary judgment resulting in defense verdicts for his clients;
  • Successfully argued that judgment obtained in favor of client should be affirmed by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

After graduating from high school in Vallejo, California, Jason served as a helicopter mechanic in the U.S. Army prior to receiving his B.S. in Business Management from the University of Phoenix Sacramento Campus in 2005. Jason then attended the Santa Clara University School of Law, and graduated with a juris doctorate in 2009, having been both a member of the SCU School of Law Tax & Estate Planning Society and a student assistant in the Debtor-Creditor section of the Katherine & George Alexander Community Law Center in San Jose, California.

Jason is a member of the State Bar of California, the Sacramento County Bar Association, and is admitted to practice before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Eastern Districts of California.

When not practicing law, Jason enjoys writing, backpacking and camping, cooking and eating delicious food, and spending time with his family and friends.
