Veterans Day, 2025

On June 6, 1944, the Day of Days, 175,000 servicemembers received the order from General Dwight D. Eisenhower.

"You are about to embark upon the Great Crusade, toward which we have striven these many months. The eyes of the world are upon you. The hopes and liberty-loving people march with you…you will bring about the destruction of the German war machine, the elimination of Nazi tyranny over the oppressed peoples of Europe, and security for ourselves in a free world."

The order would go on to talk about the difficulties that would be faced. The differences in tides of war from the early German successes of 1940 and 1941. Until the ordered concluded with:

"I have full confidence in your courage, devotion to duty and skill in battle. We will accept nothing less than full Victory!"

"Good Luck! And lets us all beseech the blessing of Almighty God upon this great and noble undertaking".

On June 6, 1944, Operation Overlord was commenced. A massive amphibious and arial assault which saw approximately 160,000 US and Allied Forces landed at Normandy be sea and air. Launching the European invasion that would ultimately result in the Allied Forces liberating France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Italy from the control of Nazi tyranny. These brave men and women liberated millions of people and uncovered and ended the atrocities at Dachau and Aushwitz and others.

Veterans Day honors all of those who have served our country in war or in peace. The military members who stormed the beaches at Normady are examples of the millions of Americans who have gallantly answered the call to serve their country throughout history. We are grateful for their dedication to duty, honor, and the dignity they displayed through their service to America.

The members of the BPE Law Group wish you the very best this Veterans Day as we honor our veterans.
